John Bennett
John is the Initiative Director at the California Initiative for Technology and Democracy, a project of California Common Cause, which advocates for solutions to the threats that AI and social media pose to our elections and democracy. Previously, John served as a Science and Technology Fellow with the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee, where he shaped legislation focused on AI, online platforms, and privacy, including California's landmark Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act. John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Classical Studies from Colgate University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University.
