Deanna Kitamura
Deanna Kitamura is a Managing Attorney at Asian Law Caucus and is part of the Democracy & National Initiatives team. She works to ensure the votes of Asian American, Pacific Islander, and other historically disenfranchised communities are not diluted through voting systems and that voter access laws are properly implemented and improved. She has filed litigation resulting in election officials increasing language access to voters (AAAJ-Los Angeles v. Padilla) and jurisdictions converting to district elections (e.g. Paik v. City of Fullerton). Deanna has managed election protection projects, worked on two redistricting cycles, and advocated for many election-related reforms in California. She currently serves on the California Secretary of State's Voter’s Choice Act Task Force and has been a member of the SOS’s Language Accessibility Advisory Committee since its inception.

Deanna has worked on civil rights and economic justice issues at a variety of nonprofits including Partnership for Working Families, Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles, Western Center on Law & Poverty, National Consumer Law Center, and California Rural Legal Assistance. Deanna began her career working on employment discrimination cases at a civil rights litigation firm and is a graduate of Pomona College and UCLA School of Law.
